Transparency

Transparency is defined by Miram-Webster Dictionary as "the quality or state of being transparent".
The image to the left is one of transparent objects. As we inspect the image further, we cannot tell with certainty much about the figure in the background. We can make assumptions or educated guesses doing the best we can to see the figure in the background.
What are you getting at?
This is how we come into therapy. We have an idea of what is going on in our brain, educated guesses. Though the longer we stare at the image to the left the less clear the background image appears. This is usually what happens right before we decide to start therapy. We have been doing our best, using every skill we have to clearly see the image.
It's getting a little long...........
Focusing on the image for so long we have lost our ability to place it into context. So, in therapy we can take a step back, start to place things in context and begin to describe what we can see in an objective manner. While we may never be able to see the image clearly, we can at the very least let go of the intense focus and look at what else is going on.
With Curiosity,
